Umecrine AB is active in research and development of pharmaceutical agents against negative mental and physical symptoms caused by natural CNS-active stress- and sex steroids (GABA-steroids). There are several different indications on Umecrine's current work list, conditions related to e.g. anxiety and mood, memory, depression, alcohol abuse and regulation of appetite. Umecrine's portfolio includes a number of newly discovered lead compounds and several drug candidates that are under investigation.
The company was founded in 2000 by leading scientists at the University of Umeå, Sweden.
